Help us make sure your market's information in the Kansas Farmers Market Directory is updated for 2009.

The Kansas Rural Center needs YOU!

KRC has assumed responsibility for updating and hosting of the Kansas Farmers Market Directory and it needs a lot of updating! Many markets have launched since the last comprehensive update and the contact information for some of the more established markets has changed.

If you are the contact person for one of Kansas' 75+ farmers market, please drop me an mercedes [dot] taylorpuckett [at] gmail [dot] com">email with your phone number and a good time to call you.

Why are we are requesting a phone contact instead of just your basic market info? Well, that's exciting news! The Kansas Rural Center, with the support of a Kansas Department of Agriculture Specialty Crop Block Grant from USDA as well as a Farmers Market Promotion Program Grant from USDA Agriculture Marketing Service, will be launching a website devoted to Kansas farmers markets.

The website will have sections targeted to producers, market organizers and market patrons. The directory will no longer be a simple web page listing the locations and times of markets; the directory will be interactive and permit shoppers to locate markets by county, zip code or region of the state. Each market will also have the opportunity to share information on the market such as year started and number of vendors, whether food stamps are accepted, web address, etc... You'll even be able to add a photo and your logo.

Please don't delay in getting your market's info updated as we hope to launch the ksfarmersmarkets.com site during the first half of May! Look for additional posts concerning the scope and features of the web site in the days ahead.
